Q: Hey, I dont see the whitespace ad. What's going on ?
A: This could happen due to two reasons:
1) You are viewing a page on a low resolution monitor and so there is no whitespace. When there is no whitespace, you will not see a whitespace ad.
2) You are viewing a live site from outside the United States. For now, only visitors from the United States will see the whitespace ad. As this beta program matures, we will add other countries.
Q: How do I get paid ?
A: These are PPC (pay per click) ads. So when someone clicks on the ad, you earn money.
Q: My site is left aligned and is designed to be 1024 pixels wide. Can whitespace ads work on my site ?
A: Yes. You just need to set the following parameters in the code:
ch_site_position = "left";
ch_site_width = "1024";
Q: Can I remove that "Powered By Chitika" text ?
A: No. However, rest assured that if someone clicks on that link and signs up for Chitika, you get a referral fee
Q: I dont want the ad to scroll. Can I turn that off ?
A: Yes. Just add this line to the code:
ch_floating = false;
Q: Hey, do you have a simple code panel where I can set all my options ?
A: This is coming soon .. but for code junkies, here are some useful options:
ch_query = "ipod"; // Targets the ad to a fixed query. You can set the title of your blog post here.
ch_defaultcat = "1398"; // Targets the ads to GPS. You can use any of the supported Chitika category codes here.
ch_site_width = "1024"; // Set this to the width of your site. Default is 800.
ch_site_position = "left"; // Set this param if your site is left aligned instead of center aligned. Default is "center"
ch_top_position = "10"; // Set the offset from the top of the screen. Default is 10 pixels from the top.
ch_horizontal_position = "right"; // If the site is center aligned, should the ad appear on the left or right. Right is default and is recommended.
ch_floating = "true"; // Should the ad scroll or not. Default is true.
Q: My site uses fluid design. Can I use whitespace ?
A: No. You CANNOT use WhitespaceAd if your site is designed to be fluid.
As you know, if you designed your site to be fluid, then even on high resolution monitors, there is no whitespace. Sorry ...
Q: Hey, I love the new look ads. Can I use these ads in other standard formats like 728x90 leaderboard and 468x60 banner ads?
